The Centre has been made aware by a member of the public that an individual was fraudulently solicitating door-to-door for donations on behalf of The Canadian Centre to End Human Trafficking in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The scammer was using the official logo of The Canadian Centre to End Human Trafficking to ask for donations to prevent the trafficking of children.
Staff informed the homeowner this was a scam and have since alerted law enforcement partners as well as reported to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre. A message alerting The Centre’s followers has also been posted on our social media platforms this morning.
If you have been approached by this type of scam using The Centre’s logo, likeness or name, we invite you to report it via The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre platform. You are also welcome to notify The Centre by emailing us at info@ccteht.ca.
Please note that The Centre NEVER canvasses door-to-door for donations or signatures. The Centre will also never contact community members by phone or email and ask for personal information such as their Date of Birth, Social Insurance Number or Credit Card information.
